Business Strategies 101 with Kim Hoegger Home | Apr, 25 2018

Are you a small business owner and looking to ramp up your game? Are you interested in growing your business but you just don’t know where to start? Have lofty goals but feel stuck, maybe even afraid to move forward? Is your business running you? My new KHH Business Strategies Series can help.

Running a small business is tough, isn’t it? You do everything from taking out the trash to forecasting the future of your company, you manage employees, work with clients and even do all of the marketing yourself and if you’re an independent retailer then you’re also going to market to shop for merchandise, then receiving and doing inventory of the merchandise and then displaying it on the sales floor. It can be overwhelming. You know you need help to grow your business but where to start, Right?

This is Kim, and I get it. I’ve been my own boss for over thirty years and most of the time I love every minute of what I do. But it’s hard – heck being “the boss” and being responsibile for running and growing a business, and sustaining a business with constant income is one of the hardest things that I have ever done. There have been days throughout my career when I thought I must be crazy to keep doing this!! It’s just too hard!! But one thing is for sure, I am no quitter and the result of hanging in there, and also knowing when to walk away(more on that later) is a business that has served me well and continues to do so. I’ve learned a lot along the way and that’s how this new Business Strategies Series came to be. The one question that I am asked more than anything else is “HOW?” Well, I am here to share what I know with you and help you build a better business and reach your business and personal goals.

In my professional career, I’ve designed hotels across the country and as far as Bermuda, I’ve owned and operated several retail stores with local, regional and national recognition, I’ve owned award-winning restaurants with executive chefs and more than twenty employees,  all the while raising four children, maintaining a marriage and running my own nationally recognized and published interior design firm, Kim Hoegger Home  – and just recently I have achieved another dream of mine to design and produce my own textile collection which is set to debut this summer and fall in several major shelter magazines. I know what you’re thinking….HOW??? Right? CRAZY?? Nope, it just took passion, guts, knowledge, grit and a lot of money(more on that later) but most of all balance because balance is the key to a successful anything.

So, after over thirty years of running my own businesses with great success, then also making huge, expensive and sometimes devastating mistakes, I am here to tell you that I wouldn’t have done it any other way and what I have learned even through what felt like failure at times, has proven to be exactly the right path for me and all of it has brought me to where I am right in this moment and where I am now is wise enough, successful enough, broken enough, and strong enough to share all that I know with you.

So welcome to my new series called Business Strategies 101. It’s a whole lot of things from blog posts to workshops and maybe eventually a video lesson or two designed to assist you in running your business, reaching your lofty goals and making sense of what a successful, balanced business and life means to you. Grab your seat now in the first workshop in our brand new Business Strategies Series beginning Saturday, May 12 at 10am in our new downtown Mckinney Design Studio. Julian Price House – Hillside Designer Show House | Feb, 08 2018

Good morning all,

It’s already Thursday of the second week in February. Can you believe it? I feel like it should still be January, lol.

In my last post I mentioned that we are over the moon thrilled to be working on the Hillside Designer Show House featuring the Julian Price House of Greensboro, NC. We have been working on this project since October and it is now in full swing with paint and wallpaper going up, cabinets being built, floors being refinished. It’s a crazy, happy mess but so much fun. If you are following along on Instagram, you’ve been seeing some of the before and after shots. We will continue to keep you up to date on all of the changes we are making without giving away too much – we don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Let’s start at the beginning, here’s a video from GTN’s “This is Greensboro” with Rosemary Plybon. I think you’ll agree, it’s an amazing home with enormous possibilities and promise. We are so excited and honored to be a part! Meet the wonderful new owners, Michael and Eric, here.

Another interesting tidbit about the home is that is was featured on the HGTV Hoarders Series last spring. Check out this video for a glimpse into the show and to see the disturbing hoard that once filled this beautiful structure.

Here is the full episode of the Hoarders Show featuring the House. Season 9 Episode 6 Sandra. The episode is $1.99 to watch but it’s worth the price to see and understand the magnitude of the hoard and the magnificence of the structure. Highly recommend!

Enjoy!!

Check out our progress on Instagram! kimhoeggerhome on Instagram

See you soon,

Kim Hoegger

Design In A Day Workshops 2018 | Jan, 31 2018

Hello friends and hello 2018!!

A big hug and welcome to all of my loyal followers and all of you who are new to following KHH aka Kim Hoegger Home, aka Cottage Girl. I am so glad that you are here and am so looking forward to starting this new year off with a bang and dishing out some really great interior design knowledge, sources and just plain old fun. There’s so much to share so I hope you’ll come back weekly to check in on what’s happening with KHH.

For starters, we have opened a brand new studio in downtown Mckinney, Texas and are so happy to be there. It’s a lovely space that we are honored to call home and we have the best landlord ever! We can’t wait for you to see it and hope you’ll give us a call and come by to see us soon. And I say give us a call because we are a design business first and we are not always in the studio – beautiful projects take us away most days but we would be delighted to meet you there  – just give us a call and schedule an appointment or sign up for our new Design In A Day Workshops. More about the new studio in an upcoming blog post so hang around, you don’t want to miss a thing.

You heard that right, we are diving in deep this year and sharing tons of cool stuff with you about how the design process works – how to select flooring and wallpaper, how to handle a remodel, how to design your bathroom and what things to consider, how to select a paint color(there’s so much more to it than just placing a sample on the wall!). All the things that you’ve been dying to know! Well, we are going to share our secrets with you! Watch your email, Instagram and the Blog for information on the upcoming workshops. And if your not on the email list – get on it!! You’ll find an opt in on the website, just fill it out and you’re in.

Another really great piece of news it that we have been greatly honored with an invitation to participate as a designer in the upcoming and completely amazing Hillside Designer Show House featuring The Julian Price Home in Greensboro, NC. I am over the moon excited about this project for so many reasons. Not only is this house on the historical register and one of the most beautiful and well built homes in the Greensboro area, it’s also an interior designer’s dream come true. Well, at least for me it is!! The house was built in 1929(they had me at “built in 1929” lol) by the very well known insurance salesman, Julian Price. I have truly never seen such an incredible structure  – the architecture is stunning but the manner and materials from which it was constructed is the most incredible part to me. I won’t spoil the surprise by giving you too many details but STAY TUNED for updates on the Blog and watch as we transform two beautiful spaces within the Home. And…drumroll, we are debuting Kim Hoegger Home Textiles and Wallpaper in one of the rooms – So exciting! You simply must stayed tuned so you don’t miss a single moment of this beautiful transformation.

Well, here we go! Welcome to another fabulous year in design and many, many fun adventures with KHH. We are glad you are here and will be along for the ride.

XXX,

Kim
